Big .Mac Tomorrow?
Speculation regarding product announcements Apple will make tomorrow morning is almost boundless on the blogsphere. Will it be new iMacs? Perhaps touch screen iPods? Either of these is probable. However, one service in serious need of an overhaul is Apple’s .Mac service, which includes webmail, online storage, address book and bookmark synch, iCards, and a few other features. Problem is, Apple charges $99 for a service most providers - namely Google - offer for free. And customers have been vocal that the steep annual price tag is far too much to pay for email and little more.
Tonight, Apple made a change in the .Mac portal that may offer a clue to a major upgrade in the service, shown here. So, will dot Mac be folded into some subset of Google apps? Is Apple finally at the door of Web 2.0? As Steve Jobs said to Walt Mossberg at All Things Digital in June, “Stay tuned.”

$99 is too much for students like me. Hope they will reduce the rate.
